Originally there were only a small amount of precious stones out there but discoveries over the years have brought about changes and stones have been added to the list. Precious stones have been around since the beginning of civilization and have always been thought of as special just because of their appearance and how bright, vivid, and beautiful many of them are. Nowadays they even make synthetic versions of these precious stones as well but they are also much cheaper than the real stones.
